The truck rolls along OK - nice big wheels on the cab, tiny ones hidden underneath the trailer. The trailer attaches to the cab via a shortened minicon peg, and is easily removed. There's enough space behind the cab itself along the legs of the small robot for prime to carry some minicons, in fact I've got Swindle and Sparkplug alongside each other pegged on. Nice and chunky the cab, the one downfall is the fists sticking out the back when the trailers detached.
A quick word about Sparkplug - great ! Start by folding the back back, everything bar the sides of the bonnet comes with it. The centre of the bonnet folds back under the main passenger bit of the car, out come the arms, and fold the passenger bit down and there you have him
(goes to put lunch on)
Cajun Chicken Pizza today, yum.
Ok.... Flip the big hands into the back of the cab exposing the robot's feet, pull down and slightly separate the legs. Pull the grill down off the front of the cab, this whole section will swing down underneath and fold up to form the chest - the Matrix is briefly visible here. Fold the shoulders down (this is supposed to trigger the auto TF of the Trailer to base) pose the arms and slide the cuffs back to reveal the hands.
Nice chunky robot here. A bit more posable than I'd been led to believe, will do for me, though the way the back of the cab (and super robot's shoulders) hang behind him it makes him look like he's got a morning suit on ! His smokestacks form a weapon (or wrist blasters) and there's a big cannon with him too, with it's own minicon pegs on it. Holds both the Star-Sabre and Skyboom OK.
If I was complaining I'd want some minicon pegs on the wrists (ala Megs and Starscream, good for mincons as hand weapons) But good so far.
Time for lunch, back when the batteries get here
I'm fed, Op has his batteries. But first a couple of points I missed earlier: The chest of the small robot will pop off if the shoulders/front of the cab aren't flush against the rest of it during TF. And there's an alt mod for the cab where you can lower the shoulders that looks more like Prime's traditional geometry.
Right open the shoulder and the truck unfolds into base mode..... you get noise to let you know it's done. hehehe action feature city ! We have 2 hidden bays on each side one with a (poor) launcher gimmick. We have a pop up cannon on one side (minicon activated) another pop up cannon with missile launcher on leg (if anyone knows what shade of blue is used on the rest of the toy so I can paint the grey missile) a button activated light and sound gimmick on the screen in the center - sort of a TF ing noise - and a minicon sound gimmick - machine gun - under the turret at the front. Sparkplug can stand on the gunnery plaform.
OK.... Get the cab far enough away from the trailer and fold the front up. Bring it close and open the legs out to form the arms - out pops the head, trailer should auto TF again into the Legs of the big robot. Then it's a little small twiddling and pegging and you're there, huge robot. The movement here is v limited, especially in the arms. The right arm has a light up gimmick in the wrist for Op's guns and Star-Saber but I must report that it is poor. Both cannons still pop up, which is good, though you're left questioning the lack of one on the other leg. Minicon pegs on both shoulders and thighs, I repeat the request for more wrist pegs. A socket on the gun - or a socket on the robot's body might have been nice for the big gun here, it will balance on the shoulders though.... And there's a bit of a space down his back too as you can see.
Overall, very happy, good fun toy.
MC-01 Supermode Convoy with Prime
Comes with Sparkplug, Powerlinx Jetfire & Comettor, the Adventure Team (Dune Runner, Ransack and Iceberg) and (inexplicably) Longarm (Red ALert's Minicon).
Final Battle Op is a very strange recolour of the original Superbase Op. Lots of Greys, Pale Blues and Darker blues make me wonder if this was the original intention for Nemesis Prime.. Very Odd coloured red and Black trailer, but it does make a good pair of coordinated Red legs for the original cab. Both cabs have different frequencies, so the correct one is needed to operate the correct trailer. Mine is sitting here combined with PL Jetfire and TFE Ultra Magnus and it's actually providing a quite nice unified colour scheme. He's sitting beside my original combination Op + Jetfire + Overload and the newer version looks better
By my reckoning the following combos are available:
Superbase Prime, Jetfire, Overload
Superbase Prime, Jetfire, Ultra Magnus
Superbase Prime, PL Jetfire, Overload
Superbase Prime, PL Jetfire, Ultra Magnus
Final Battle Prime, Jetfire, Overload
Final Battle Prime, Jetfire, Ultra Magnus

Op on the other hand looks to be a monstrous mishmash of yellows and greys with a hint of the popular burgundy, and both heads monstrously recoloured in bright red - another colour muck up of the order of FK Waspy ? It wasn't until I got thinking about the yellow tinted windows - works well in the gun and the smokestacks btw - that I realised what we had here - this is Optimus Prime redone in the old Obliterator Clench colours. The toy then went up in my mind for using an old colour-scheme imaginatively. But such a shame about the heads..... a v dark olive green with gold highlights would have been the icing on the cake.
