To TF: Pull on the sides of his beast back to separate them - the centre will drop out as a sword. Straighten the rear legs, rotate at the swivel below the hip and flip out heel spurs and feet. Fold his beast chest down to form a loin cloth/cod piece, and fold the beast's lower jaw down to form the robot chest. Pull the back panels down - they're on connecting arms - and then pull back on the middle of his back - the entire section through his ears up to his horn will fold back. Fold the sides of his head forward and down so they become the sides of the chest. The beast forelegs will now pull to sides slightly - these can then be rotated so the beast feet point up to reveal the arms. Insert the sword into his hand. The visible mutant head splits in 2 to reveal a smaller version of the head inside which now has these massive flaps to the side - yet another failure in the mutant head dept and adding to the reasons why the gimmick was discontinued. Rhinox has an additional weapon: remove the 2 morning stars - spiked balls on chains - from within the armour hanging beside the legs. Remove the green disc that's attached to his back - the morning stars attach to this. Flip his chest up and remove the contents of the chest cavity - you'll have fun getting it back in but here's how to do it: the green handle must be pointing up an to the front when it's replaced and the black arm will have to be pushed down as it's inserted. Anyway take this box and place the wheel onto the black post on one side and place the green handle in his hand. Press down on the black arm causing the disc and morning stars to spin round ! It's described on the box as his "chain gun of doom" and although it doesn't look much like his weapon in the series you can see what they're getting at
Decent articulation - knee, swivel above the knee, ball and socket hips, fore & aft and to the sides at the shoulder and a ball jointed elbow as well as a neck. Posing the legs is slightly more limited by the armour and the slightly short legs.
Overall: Decent toy, if slightly spoilt by his weapons not resembling what he uses in the show that much.
There is a Japanese version of Rhinox - C-07 - that's also available with Shadow Panther in VS-07. The only obvious difference is that the Rhino's face and back are a more grey colour.
So completely failing to mention that the skin on the rhino is now a white/grey with dark blue pattern on the back. The rhino looks good. The red robot bits look OK - but suffer a bit from being 2 different shades of red. A more uniform Sideswipe red may have been better. Unfortunately they're together on the same toy. Looking at how they've coloured the Rhino I think a sensible colour for the robot bits would have been more blue or black - would have clashed less in robot mode. The red robot pieces virtually demand to be paired with a black coloured shell and called Ironhide.
A big miss here - but the basis for what could have been two good repaints.
Rhinox's colour changes involve darkening his skin and his markings. His green is slightly darker and like Cheetor's yellow has acquired a mild metallic tinge. His eye has gone from being red to white with a black pupil. His mutant head teeth are now silver, his eyes are red and he has a black line above his eyes. His robot head eyes are again red, and there's some added gold highlighting on his chin and crest. Again his right foreleg has a red and silver Maximal crest.
Another good update - but slightly more subtle than Cheetor.
