Beast Wars Neo Archadis

Archadis is an Archaeopteryx, a feathered and scaled dinosaur bird. The dinobird can flap his wings, bend his tail down, had 2 joints in his neck, an opening beak, ball jointed hips and bends his knee and ankle. It's quite articulated as alt modes go. The colouring of the toy is a mixture of blue, green and a bronzey colour.

There's no trap mode on this toy, but he has a bombing gimmick: there's a trigger on each arm that shoots the ends of the wings out and releases some feathers as bombs.

TF: Fold the lower legs up into the back of the upper leg. Fold the front of the upper legs down to form the lower robot legs and straighten out the feet. Rotate the waist round so that the neck is on your right. Fold the neck down to form his left arm, and the tail to form the right arm. Pull the bird's back feathers up, then fold the entire back and wing section to his right (your left) fold the wings over covering the pink purple spark. Flip the head up and rotate into place.

The resulting robot continues the western theme by using the wings to mimic a poncho as on a gunfighter. He's even got a quick draw feature - pull out the tail feather on his right arm and rotate, which pops the gun into his hand. Nice feature. The robot has ball jointed ankles, hips and shoulders, as well as ball joints at the elbow which only fold in. The knees bend and the waist & neck rotate. The left hand - the robot's beak - opens. The robot mode is somewhat thin and spindly but you can see what they're getting at. Not a bad attempt

Beast Machines Airraptor

All I said at the time was "Dinobots are all neo toys - repainted in nice bright and metallic colours. Not too bad." Well Air Raptor as a repaint isn't too far removed from Archadis. The blue is darker, the bronze is yellow and the green is light blue. Not really different at all for you to need both.
