God Fire Convoy

God Fire Convoy is the combined form of Car Robots toys C-001 Super Fire Convoy and C-023 God Magnus. There is no God Fire Convoy giftset for this original colour combination.

Was God Fire Convoy intended when Super Fire Convoy was released ? I'm not so sure. God Magnus part in this combination is to replacer all the add on armour for Super Fire Convoy - there's no new tricks needed on Super Fire Convoy to link the two together and you end up discarding the existing armour !

To form these toys into their combined mode start with God Magnus in robot mode and Super Fire Convoy in Fire Convoy robot mode with all the armour separated - stick it into base mode, you'll not be needing it in the combined form.

Please excuse me if I abbreviate to FC for Fire Convoy and GM for God Magnus !

Pull Fire Convoy's chest up so the first bending joint above the waist is exposed and the head is tucked into the body.

Remove God Magnus' legs. Fold the ramps up from the kneecaps and fold down the section of gridwork on the outside of the lower leg. Fold the two lower sections of gridwork up, fold in the blue panel beside the foot and fold the gridwork back down without pegging in place. Next fold the entire gridwork panel forward so it's sticking out the front of the leg. Fold the light blue connecting peg for the ramp and upper deck so it sticks straight up then fold up the bottom two sections of gridwork and then fold the last section over the other two so all three are folded up together. Lift up the non ramp end of the leg and fold down the foot shaped panel in it so it locks into the ramp end pf the leg. Fold the piece that connects the legs for God Magnus underneath then under that fold down the grey robot foot on the back of the legs. Ten minutes to write and try with one leg. Ten seconds to follow with the other legs.

Peg Fire Convoy's feet into the base, fold the ramp connector round to peg into his knee. Fold the ramp up and peg into the connector.

Take God Magnus. The panels on his forearms bend out to the sides freeing the forearm from the upper arm. Note that the panel with one peg on it is the same side as the cut in the ball joint for when you reassemble God Magnus. Take the forearms and fold the panels right the way out in a cross shape - you'll notice a second hand is stored within. Fold God Magnus' hand back so the palm faces out.

Place the thumb of God Magnus's hand in the hole at the top of Fire Convoy's fist and fold GM's fingers round the outside of FC's fist - GM's right hand matches FC's right fist and vice versa. Rotate GM's wrist until the panel with the wheels on is on the outer side of FC's arm. Lock onto the outside of the arm, lock the panel under the arm onto that, then the one inside the arm and finally the one on top of the arm.

Take the remainder of God Magnus. Pull one of the top deck sides out and swing the decks round so they're sticking out the sides. Fold so they voice box's grey tips are pointing up. Fold the chest plate down. Fold the head plate back and through the struts connecting to the voicebox. Turn the head the other way up Face the head back through the struts. Bend the voicebox down over the head so the grey ends point the way the face was looking. Fold the head into the gap between the struts - the head will end up slanted diagonally. Put the wings/deck pieces back into the V configuration. Turn the shoulders so the remainder of the arms point away from the tip of the V. Fold the shoulders back alongside the voicebox. Fold the elbow joint out to the sides. Fold the front grill away from the sides of the cab and out to the sides. Fold the blue clips for the weapon in the shoulders up & back so they're pointing up from the cab and rest in small indents in the side of the voicebox. Fold out the cab and fold the tops of the robot legs back in Fold the red wheel supports out to the sides. Fold down the panels under these.

Take FC and peg him into this with his shoulders going under the red wheel supports. Fold the cab down and clip onto his chest which should push up God Fire Convoy's head. Rotate the gold pipes on the head back.

While I remember - pushing the button on the soundpack now without the weapon attached causes him to yell something in Japanese then "God Fire Convoy !" The head lights up when you do this.

The resulting robot is very big and bulky. Too bulky for the joints in Fire Convoy's leg's I'm afraid - it's prone to tip back at the waist especially if you move the legs. It can be posed with the legs apart or together - the new ankles bend in to accommodate this - but I wouldn't try any other position. Otherwise he has Fire Convoy's articulation: Ball jointed head, shoulders bend forward & back, rotate forward & back and fold to the sides. He has a bicep swivel, a bending elbow and a ball jointed wrist. His waist turns and would be limited by the battery, lights and noise module in his back pack but this lifts up at the top to allow full waist movement. The legs move at the hips forwards, back & to the sides. The knees bend & the legs swivel bellow the knees. To be honest I'd think *very* carefully about moving any joint bellow the waist and I'm pretty sure you'll have trouble turning that in this mode.

All three versions of God Magnus' cannon can be used in this mode - there are pegs on the side of the weapon that allow it to be attached to the supports behind the head in cannon or gattling mode provoking modified versions of their previous noises together with the head lighting up. In combined mode the missile unit attaches to the supports, and when the sound is triggered he yells "God FIRE !" and produces a modified combined gun noise.

Overall: Well done in getting these two combined - it's a TF engineering marvel. However as outlined above Fire Convoy's waist and legs can't really take the strain of having the bulk of God Magnus added to him. God Magnus is also only really acting as replacement armour for Fire Convoy rather than an add on for super fire convoy.

Black God Fire Convoy

No images exist of this combination but seeing as both Black Super Fire Convoy & Black God Magnus exist such a combination is potentially possible.

Clear God Fire Convoy

TFU.info is at the moment missing pictures of this toy but there's some good ones here

Clear God Fire Convoy looks nice - the arm and leg armour is a particularly good touch being able to see the pieces underneath through the clear ones on top.

An extra staff is included connected to an altered version of Fortress Maximus' Master Sword. However the staff sags under the sword's weight and the sword can't be held by Brave Maximus as the hilt is missing !

Omega Prime

Omega Prime is the combined form of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime & Ultra Magnus. It's virtually identical to the Car Robots version as all the altered pieces are either tucked away or not used in this form. You have to use the individual toys to form this robot as there's no RID Omega Prime set.

Why Omega Prime as a name ? Surely Ultra Prime would have been more appropriate leaving Omega Prime for a potential Omega Supreme/Optimus Prime combination (see Energon)

Universe Omega Prime

Oh dear. You may remember I said they'd got a little slapdash on Optimus when they'd forgotten to make his chromed chest yellow ? And how Magnus still had red pieces ? Here all the chickens come home to roost: All the bits on Magnus that should match Prime - combined shoulders, head, hands - now clash hideously as they're still in red and he's in yellow. Some thought might have been given to making both parts of this set match up ? I can't decide if Prime's yellow & Magnus' light blue go together or not either !

Omega Prime was a Costco exclusive in 2003 containing both recoloured versions of Prime & Magnus.
