Overkill is an off white mini cassette with some blue panels and a blue tape label. The tape mode can ride in either mode of Soundwave, Soundblaster, Blaster or Twincast.
Transformation: Turn the tape with the non stickers side towards you and the largest section of blue panelling in the bottom left. Fold the top left corner out to the left to become the head. Fold the feet out from the right hand side of the tape. Fold the top of the tape down into the vacated space to act as a tail. Fold each leg out to the side slightly and fold the small arms up from the dinosaur's body. Plug the dual thruster/missile launcher units into each shoulder.
Overkill's beast mode is an off-white Tyrannosaurus Rex with blue limbs. Although his legs are fixed at the hips, the knees bend, albeit backwards, the tail bends, the mouth opens, both the head & the neck lean back and the arms move up & down.
Overkill looks nice enough but is a little limited. His co-sell in the USA works a lot better for me.
Overkill was originally release in the USA in 1987 where he was paired with Slugfest. This 2-pack was not released in the UK, while in Japan the contents were sold individually as D-108 Slugfest and D-109 Overkill.
Overkill has been re-released just once as part of Transformers Encore #19: Cassette Big Mission 3 with Rumble, Frenzy & Laserbeak.
Overkill has never been repainted. How about swapping the off-white for grey and blue for red to create a tape version of Dinobot Grimlock
