Review
In Energon Grindor is upgraded from a skateboard to what could be a futuristic hovercraft. Most of the vehicle is park blue, with white side and rear fans - lots of paint is applied to most parts. It's got one Minicon port - black like some of the robot parts - underneath it for mounting the toy but when put on a larger toy it just looks like a vehicle bolted on. .
TF: Split the front of the board in two and fold to the sides. Pull the side fans out to the sides. Fold the rear fans back, then up again halfway along and finally rotate round the ball joint. Stand on the fans with the underside showing forward.
Really Oh Dear this time. Stunningly bad, a deformed robotic penguin whose only real articulation is the ball joint at the base of his stubby arms formed from the fans.
Very poor.
When combined with the other two Minicons in this set Grindor forms the legs and spine of Perceptor effectively swapping places with Sureshock from the previous version
In Japan Energon Grindor was called Runway and was available with the rest of the team that form Cliffjumper (The Armada "Perceptor" in Japan was known as Bumble, as in Bumblebee) as Superlink toy SC-09
Screw is a limited edition Japanese repaint of Grindor.
The black stays the same, but the dark blue becomes clear dark blue, the white of the side fans becomes grey and clear for the feet/rear fans.
Screw was limited to 4000 pieces and available only at Japanese Toys 'R' Us stores in April 2004. He forms part of Windcharger - can you see the G1 Minibot thing going on with the names here ?
Filter appear in Micron Booster V2 with the other two Micron repaints in this team that combine to form Frenzy - see they're evil versions so they go to the tapes - the opposition of the Minibots for a name this time. White becomes grey for the side fans and blue for the rear fans/feet, and dark blue becomes red while black stays as it is.
Bright and nasty repaint of a bad toy.
Grindor returns in Cybertron in a VS pack with Scrap Iron of the Deep Space Team - a Decepticon repaint of Astroscope of the Space team.
The black stays the same, but the dark blue becomes a pale blue. The white becomes one of two colours: the rear fans become dark blue and the side fans stay white.
