Review

Comettor represents a significant milestone in my revision of my Minicon reviews: It's the last Armada Minicon and the indeed the last Unicron Trilogy Minicon I need to tackle. After 11 Armada 3 packs, 1 new Energon & 2 new Cybertron 3 packs (42 Minicons), 12 original Supercon Packins (Sideways has two, the beasts recycle some) , 4 Armada Voyager pack ins (Starscream's is in a 3 pack, Predacon recycles two), 3 Armada Ultra packs, 2 larger toy pack-ins and 4 new packins from Cybertron I'm done with the Minicons from this period - 67 different Minicon reviews - plus 5 more for the combining weapons & robots ! (72). Of course there's 18 more to come from the Classics Minicons yet making a round 90 in total !

Comettor

Comettor is the Minicon that comes with Jetfire and has four distinct functions.

The first is as a Moonbuggy - six wheeled with a telescope/laser cannon on top and a radar dish on the back. Most of the toy is blue - not used on Jetfire - with red "cannon" & radar dish (as per Jetfire's missiles) and grey wheels (as per his legs)

He has one Minicon port underneath the vehicle mode. When attached to a larger toy the scope looks like a laser cannon and add-on weapons are always welcome.

Comettor's second function - undocumented - keeps him in vehicle mode. He attaches to the top of the Space Team's combined form the Requiem Blaster to form it's scope.

Comettor combines with Jetfire as his landing gear in shuttle mode. Turn Commetor upside down then pull the radar dish back & up. Fold the back two pairs of wheels down so they're both level horizontally under the laser cannon. Use the Minicon post under Jetfire's nose to attach Comettor, then attach Jetfire's breast plate to the bottom of the rear of the shuttle to provide the rear landing gear.

Finally Comettor transforms into a robot: Pull the radar dish back and down. Raise up the cannon. Pull the back pair of wheels up and forward so they're horizontal in relation to each other, one is level with the front wheel and the other is out in front. Look at the top of the toy. Twist the back round 90 degrees so the robot head is facing you, the radar dish is on your right and the cannon is on your left. Fold the two pairs of wheels down to form the legs and feet.

I think this is the only Minicon with a wheeled base - well done for being different. He bends at the "ankle" attached to the wheel pairs and hip, turns at the waist and has ball jointed shoulders.

Not a bad Minicon - versatile, integrated with larger robot and has a robot form that's out of the ordinary.

Jetfire's Japanese name is Sonar and he appears with Skyfire in pack numbered MC-09

Powerlinx Comettor

Jetfire received a Powerlinx redecoration as did Comettor - the red remains more or less the same but the blue becomes white integrating it more colour wise with the larger toy.

Unreleased Spacewarp Comettor

A version of Comettor should have come with the Universe Decepticon who would have been called Comettor. The picture at the bottom of the page linked to above shows a grey body, with purple wheel and white arms/cannon & radar dish

Starcatcher

When the Decepticon Jetfire was eventually released to the Transformers Collectors Club with all new versions of the Cybertron Giant Planet team Comettor became Starcatcher. Starcatcher uses a similar colour scheme to the unreleased Comettor.with a slightly darker purple.
