Speed Dial 800

Remy Act 426: Speed Dial 800

Speed Dial is a flip Up camera phone - effectively a Star Trek Communicator. The top of the phone & the screen both show an Autobot symbol and the time onm the screen set to 7:47 which is a reference to the US release date of the film - 4th July 2007 in the US format of m/d/y.

To TF: Flip up the screen, and then turn it round 180m degrees so the back of the screen is on the same side as the keypad. Bend down over the back of the Keypad. Pull the 2 side columns of numbers away from the keypad, and fold down to form the legs. Feet fold out of the legs - these want to be facing the same way as the keypad. Note that the swivel joint in the legs is very weak and they may pop off. Uncouple the claws from the top of the keypad and fold down. Use to pull the arms up and fold into position - beware both the bicep joint and shoulder ball - both have popped off on me. Below the camera lens there's 2 flaps - ala BW Rhinox's Mutant head. Fold these out to reveal the Robot's lower face - though leaving them closed does give the toy a sort of faceless drone soldier look, which can be increased by repeating the transform with the keypad and screen in their usual configuration

Articulation is the same as Longview plus an arm bicep - though beware the bicep and leg swivels for weakness. Bot mode is a little spindly which causes this. Yes the head does turn, but you need to pull the back up first and that completely destabilises the toy. He's the first Monocular toy this year (think Shockwave but with a bigger eye). He won't be the last.

Not bad at all and bonus points for the drone mode with the head and body.

Speed Dial is a Movie 2007 Real Gear Wave 1 toy sold with Longview, Spyshot 6 & Power Up VT6. As well as being available individually he was also sold in the Mass Media Battle 2-pack with Booster X-10. He was sold in the UK and in Japan he was numbered MA-07.

Wire Tap V20

I was looking forward to Wiretap - the publicity/packaging photos show him in mainly black with bright red limbs. Alas on the release version the red is more a rusty orange - but redder than Wreckage's. He swaps Autobot symbols for Decepticon ones but the time is now set to 3:35 pm. Many of the numbers on the Real Gear toys have some significance but nobody has found anything that this refers to.

It's still a nice repaint, but one step down from the gorgeousness I was hoping for.

Wire Tap is a Movie 2007 Real Gear Wave 4 toy which was sold with Nightbeat. Wiretap was sold in the UK and in Japan where he was numbered MD-21

Highline 1070

Highline is a negative Wiretap - he's an Autobot with the red & black of the earlier repaint swapped round. Highline's screen shows the time 10:38, the message TF4EVER and an Autobot symbol.

Highline is a Movie 2007 Real Gear Wave 5 toy, which was not sold in the UK or Japan, and was packed with Farsight T-20 & Hacker X-3.

The Speed Dial mould is the only Real Gear toy to be repainted twice.
