Oh my goodness me. This is a fantastic toy ! A near perfect mini replica of the larger toy from what I can see. Where to begin ? He comes packaged in robot mode - ball joints at shoulders and hips, a sideways movement at the knees and fore & aft at the elbows. He has the sword of the original, and a gun molded in blue plastic - not like the original gun. Fold the head back to reveal Sabre's head, and he pops out the top of the body. Sabre is the real star of this set - essentially a little Micromaster plane. John Cullen is going to *LOVE* him. He has knees, hips and shoulders, and the nose cone of the jet/sword hilt mounts on his arm as a wing. He forms the Sabre jet by folding out his wings and attaching the sword hilt. Star Sabre lower legs hinge out sideways and lock onto ends of his arms to form the bigger jet. You can merge this with the smaller jet by folding the smaller jets rear wings up and slotting him in the front of the larger jet. Or the robot Sabre can use the larger jet as a battle platform using the big head as a gun emplacement - there are pegs on the larger jet and peg holes on Sabre's feet. The battle station mode illustrated in Generations can just about be formed using this toy which is very similar to the God Ginrai battle station.
I think there's a few reasons why I love this:
1) It's Star Sabre.
2) I've wanted an original for a long time.....
3) It's a good scaled down replica
4) It's the missing link in the Micromaster concept - more toys like this
where the MM is an essential part of a medium robot would have helped sell
the concept to me and kept the line alive
You need to own this toy.
Star Saber is Robot Masters toy RM-15
TF to lion is simple - compress the robot legs, fold the rear legs down and turn the arms into the forelegs. Peg weapons on back.
Lion looks like the original with the robot arm articulation in the forelegs and hips on the rear legs.
Rear legs fold down, upper body goes up, head folds down and weapons are reversed to form the Victory Leo jet. Yes, not a great jet by itself but everything is as it should be and the robot looks nice.
So recommended, especially if you have RM Star Sabre cos......
Victory Leo is Robot Masters toy RM-16
The first is a jet mode - connect the Victory Leo jet into the back of Star Sabre jet to form the Victory Sabre jet. Nice big and chunky - the sleekness of the SS front and some might and extra weapons provided by VL on the back.
The robot mode is formed thus: take Star Sabre in robot mode. Pull Victory Leo's head/upper body and wing assembly off. The head folds into the cavity where the torso was, and the wing assembly pegs onto SS's back. Split VL's torso in 2 giving you half a torso and a leg on each part. This section concertinas up to form the feet for VS by pegging onto SS feet. Put the cannons over VS shoulders, and place the gun/missile launcher in VS's hand.
This arrangement adds some height and bulk to SS, as well as the wings and some weapons. Looks nice.
There's a set of 2 of these with a slightly different paint job - RM17 Victory Sabre - lighter blue plastic, slight metalic flake.
So overall: 1 good toy and 1 amazing one, decent combination. Get both if you can, but you *NEED* to have Star Sabre
